Promotes program that reduces energy burden for local families

CIRCLEVILLE, OHIO (October 10, 2024) – Pickaway County Community Action Organization (PICCA) is celebrating Energy Awareness Month by promoting a program that helps local families save money on utilities by making homes more energy efficient.

“One in four households report reducing or forgoing necessities such as food and medicine to pay an energy bill,” said PICCA Executive Director Becky Hammond. “Our Weatherization Assistance Program helps reduce energy burdens for families by making homes more energy efficient.

The weatherization program offered by PICCA helps identify issues in a home, whether it is a malfunctioning furnace or drafts caused by inadequate insulation. Home assessments are offered free-of-charge, and many low-income homeowners may qualify for grants to replace old furnaces or make necessary weatherization improvements, Hammond said.

PICCA also has a program that helps people pay their utility bills.

For more information on these programs, contact Energy Coordinator Channin Carmean or Energy Assistant Becki Matzenbach at (740) 477-1655.
