HOME REPAIR MAINTENANCE
Central Ohio Area Agency on Aging Home Repair Maintenance will do minor home repairs such as replacing broken doors and windows, minor plumbing repairs (faucets, showerheads, etc.), roof repair (no replacements of roofs), furnace check and clean, minor furnace repair, handicap accessability and other repairs are approved on a case by case basis.
Eligibility Requirements:
1. All applicants must be at least 60 years of age.
2. Restrictions apply for persons who rent
3. Must bring in the deed or title to the property.
4. Must document age.
The Ohio Department of Development, Office of Housing and Community Partnerships Emergency Home Repair/Handicapped Accessibility Modification Program makes repairs necessary (of an emergency nature) to keep a unit habitable by an individual or household with an income at or below 35% of the area median income, protect the integrity of the structure, and assure the occupants’ health and safety. Examples of emergency home repairs include repair or replacement of heating systems, plumbing systems, hot water heaters, hazardous electrical systems or severely deteriorated roofs, walls, windows, and doors. Examples of handicapped accessibility activities include limited rehabilitation to remove barriers, such as installation of ramps or modification of kitchens or bathrooms.
Priority will be given to projects that:
1. Provide documentation that other funds, such as Community Development Block Grant Program funds, are not available or that the local demand for such dollars greatly exceeds the availability of the funds for the activities in the proposal;
2. Prevent persons in housing from becoming homeless;
3. Target owner-occupied housing units; and
4. Are administered by community or neighborhood-based nonprofit organizations.
Home weatherization and lead-based paint abatement are not eligible activities under this program.
To be eligible for the program, applicants must be a resident of Pickaway County and own their home. All applicants will be required to provide proof of household income to ensure the eligibility requirement of at or below 35% AMI is met.
